Let's take a trip back to the Progressive Era!

Dennis Kucinich for President '08.

I agree pretty much 100% with all of his views. And he's vegan. Too bad he looks like the Kebler elf.

Vote for the only progressive running by voting for Dennis Kucinich for President in '08.

Yeah.

hhahaa you're making a grave mistake! the democrats will never get into the white house if they nominate such a left-wing candidate - that's how the bushtard won in '04. consider the power of nominating someone like that...

no, the best way to get him into the white house is have someone like edwards (who can get elected easily) get the nomination and choose whatshisname as a running mate.

or maybe Obama will be running mate. we'll see...

excuse me, cows do not suck. if anything, we suck cows (you know, for milk). cause you know, cows could be considerd vegans...

actually, given our twisted meat industry's tactics, who knows that they eat now...

Ashish, your defeatist attitude disappoints me. I'm pretty sure our forefathers didn't say that when they thought up the Declaration of Independence.

I've seen Obama speak and well, he sure can talk. I just don't think he's progressive enough and can actually do the things he wants.

Some of Kucinich's platforms:
- Universal Healthcare - most of Europe already has this. Why not us?
- Getting out of Iraq and getting back in with the UN - it's what we should have done in the first place. We still have allies and they will come to fight if we make this issue an international one
- Guaranteed public education - yeah.
- Out of the WTO and NAFTA - you all should remember Social Justice class
- Repeal of US Patriot Act - this is another duh.
- Abolish death penalty - we're a "Christian" nation according to Bush but we have institutionalized death. Oh and death penalty actually costs more than no death penalty due to people on death row having multiple expensive trials all on the public dollar
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?did=108&scid=7#financial%20facts
- Form a US "Department of Peace" - not a bad idea from someone who has won the Ghandi Peace Award
- legalize gay marriage
- BAN HAND GUNS - if this isn't more important now, I don't know what is
- ratify Kyoto Protocol and ABM Treaty - Great but you'll say "BUT WHAT ABOUT CHINA??!!" Well Johnny, you may not remember it but I do. The US used to be a country which lead the world in productive change. I wish we could be role models once again.
- Protect right to abortion but lower abortion numbers - this is 100% where I stand. I hope to the Flying Spaghetti Monster that I'll never have to be put in this position but, if I do, I want to be able to consider both options. I currently cannot decide whether abortion should be illegal or not because I'm not in that situation. Abortion is not something you can dictate from an arm chair. Therefore, to preserve civil liberties, it should be legal but should involve a heavily thought out decision.

Obama should win the Democratic nomination. It's terribly obvious. Edwards is just another smiling Southern politician from my impression of him. Do we really need another one of those in the White House? Never mind that I heard he sucked it up in the debates against Cheney... if you can't beat Cheney, ouch. Clinton would lose to anyone the Republicans are putting up there because all Republicans HATE her and probably for good reasons. By process of elimination, Obama is the Democrats' strongest candidate among the front-runners, although I used my personal bias against Edwards to try to evidence that; whatever. And to be honest I wouldn't mind it if Giuliani or Romney won the presidency, with Giuliani a full-on social liberal, Romney a pushover for anyone who will elect him (and seeing as how this nation's gone liberal recently...), and even if Rudy doesn't turn out to be a good leader he's a damn good one symbolically what with 9/11 and all of that. In any case it's not as if I know enough about the candidates anyway.
